About us
What is Habitat for Humanity?
We are a non-profit housing ministry, who offers the chance of homeownership to area families. The qualified homeowners assist with the building of their and other homes by completing sweat equity hours. The program is a hand-up, not a hand out. To date, we have complete 30 homes in Salem County, which have been sold at a no-profit, no-interest mortgage.
Salem County Habitat was formed in 1982 by a group of concerned individuals of different religious denominations who observe a need for better housing situations for area residents. It is the first Habitat affiliate in the North East section of the country and the 22nd affiliate of Habitat International! We are a registered non-profit 501© 3, so all donations are tax deductible.
